The Three Biggest NBA
Draft Busts in the Last Two Decades
Over the
history of the NBA, the draft has been the best way to grab young promising
players. Some No.1 draft picks have gone on to Hall of Fame careers, such as:
Tim Duncan, Hakeem Olajuwon, Magic Johnson, Kareem- Abdul Jabbar, and LeBron
James. Some high draft picks have gone on to terrible careers, and we call them
draft busts. Here are the to three NBA draft busts in the last two decades.
1. Darko Milicic (2003)
Darko
Milicic is a former Serbian basketball player. He was chosen No.2 in the 2003
NBA draft, which is considered the best draft class in NBA history. He was
chosen after LeBron James, and before All-Stars like Carmelo Anthony, Dwyane
Wade, Chris Bosh, David West, and Kyle Korver. Milicic started his professional
career in Serbia, where he played for a team named Hemofarm. He stayed there
for two years and then declared for the draft. He was drafted by the Detroit
Pistons and received no or very little playing time, which he stated slowed
down his improvement. He quickly flamed out to become on of the worst picks in
NBA history.
2. Anthony Bennett (2013)
The
Cleveland Cavaliers drafted Anthony Bennett with the 1st pick in the
2013 NBA draft. He played for the University of Nevada Las Vegas Running Rebels
for one season in college. He averaged 16 points and 8.1 rebounds. He was
drafted before stars like Victor Oladipo and Michael Carter- Williams. He
missed his first 26 NBA field goals. For now, he is one of the worst picks
ever.
3. Jonny Flynn (2009)
Jonny Flynn
was drafted in the 1009 NBA draft. Is he a household name? No, not exactly. The
person drafted after him is a household name, and that is Stephen Curry. Curry
is having an MVP season for the Golden State Warriors, while Jonny Flynn is
playing in Europe. The Timberwolves could have drafted Ricky Rubio and Stephen
Curry with two consecutive draft picks, but they drafted Jonny Flynn instead.
no Kwame Brown???
